Most Interesting Assignment: Hmm… Having the Archbishop of Canterbury serve on my staff in my previous Church in Washington, DC.  The Most Rev. George Carey and his wife Eileen were and are wonderful friends, and taught Elizabeth and me a great deal about ministry and leadership.

Likes Best About the Lowcountry: The people, local seafood, “old world” European flavor of downtown Charleston, hearing Church Bells ring.

Most Interesting Assignment: Any assignment that allows me to see folks transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit through involvement with small groups on missions both locally and internationally.  Personal involvement in mission with Burundi, Africa certainly stands out at the top.

Position Description:  I would say my position has four main responsibilities: First, to preach the Gospel to all people; Second, to show those 18-35 Jesus’ love and invite them to a deeper life in Him; Three, to bring spiritual and practical leadership to St. Michael’s Life Group Ministry; and Four, to serve those who are overseeing spreading the Gospel to Hearts and Homes, the Holy City, the Hurting Coast, and the Hungering World.

Most Interesting Assignment: Everything with youth is interesting.  Either they are totally into it or they absolutely hate it. But, probably my most favorite things to do with the students are mission trips.  They love to serve and the power of Christ Jesus works on their hearts when they make themselves vulnerable through serving.

I am responsible for the everyday operation of the retail business which consists of sales, purchasing, marketing, store scheduling of volunteers, accounts receivable and payable, research book and merchandise orders, and purchases, work with companies to design special St. Michael’s merchandise, write messenger ads, rearranging merchandise on shelves, and the front window and sometimes dusting, public relations, gift wrapping, embossing, setting up and working off campus book stores, and much more. Saints Alive is a ministry and it is important not to let the retail aspect of the store over shadow the ministry aspect of the store.
