"Mingles" - "M"arried s"INGLES"

Who We Are

mingles A dictionary search of the word, "mingle" includes meanings such as, "to mix or bring together in combination, usually without loss of individual characteristics," as well as, "to get involved or mixed-up with."  At St. Michael's it is also now a word that names a new fellowship group to bring together in combination both Married and sINGLE adults.  Although intentionally aimed at the maturing baby boomer generation, (or Aging Hipsters, as some Sociologists have identified) this group is open to all.  Borrowing from the parish mission statement that begins with being Called to Community, the Mingles is a group that allows for Christian fellowship and fun through a variety of periodic events and festivities where folks can get involved and mixed-up with one another in ways that will build community.  It is not replacing any existing groups such as, The Gate, Michaelites in Motion, or the Sociable Saints, but rather it adds to the mix of available opportunities with an intentional focus on young-at-heart mature folk.  Contact Bob Lawrence for more information!

Dinner Cruise!

In early August, we took advantage of one of the premier tourist highlights right here in our own hometown!  We embarked on a Dinner Cruise aboard the Spirit of Carolina!  We enjoyed a four course dinner, dancing to a live band, and sight-seeing in our own harbor!  What a great party!

Society for the Preservation of Spirituals

We were invited to a Rutledge Avenue home for fellowship, food, wine and a special presentation by the Society for the Preservation of Spirituals.  What a great evening!

Barbeque and Bluegrass at Bugby
In August, MINGLES gathered at the Bugby Plantation on Wadmalaw Island (the home of the Sosnowskis') for our second annual barbeque.  We roasted a pig, had bbq and all the fixin's, and tapped our toes to the Good News Bluegrass Band.

Pre-Spoleto Italian Gathering
In May, MINGLES gathered at the home of Wade and Eunice Logan on Sullivan's Island for a fun-filled evening of good food and fellowship.  We shared Italian wines and hors d'oeuvres and mingled with some of the Spoleto performers and artists.

MUSC Tour
MINGLES toured the MUSC Heart and Vascular Center and the Radiology Department, guided by Dr. Philip Costello, Professor and Chairman of the Radiology Department and by Mr. David Soutter, Director of Development.  They got and inside look at some dramatic new technology and shared lunch together.

Pig Pickin’ and Barbeque
Our inaugural event back in August, 2005 was at the home of Linda and Dave Soutter: a poolside pig-pickin and barbeque with live bluegrass band! It was a wonderful time! The photos below speak for themselves!
