GIC 2012 Reflection

As we approached the kick-off for GIC, our nursery staff had been prepared for what the week may bring … with one exception, a reunion with a missionary that would spark a trip to Burundi!  One of our sweet nursery workers, Eliza Tew, had traveled to Burundi as a youth of St. Michael’s and on our first Sunday of GIC… Burundi would come to her, through Freddy.  That morning she asked me if Freddy would be there and I answered saying that I thought he would but I wasn’t sure where he would be.  I could tell that she very much wanted to see him but her obligations in the nursery were not going to allow for her to find him on this busy morning.  As I stood outside of the nursery rooms, Freddy walked up with Onesphore and I asked if he could spare one minute of his time… he, of course, said that he would be happy to and followed me without any explanation.  As we approached the classroom where Eliza was working, I was so excited about what was about to happen.  The door was opened, and no introduction needed to be made… the two saw each other and raced to hug and catch up.  It was a special moment and tears filled eyes as we witnessed this reunion.  The next Sunday, Eliza announced to Freddy during the reception in the Kinloch room that she was feeling led to return to Burundi this summer.  The two prayed together right there in the middle of the crowd about this possibility.  Prayers were answered, Eliza will return to Burundi this summer to work with Freddy and the beautiful people of Burundi … spreading the love of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Please keep Eliza in your prayers as she prepares for this wonderful trip.
