Letter to the Rector

Rev. Zadig,

My husband and I would like to say “Thank you” for always making us feel welcome at St. Michael’s.  We have only visited twice, once on our honeymoon and again just a few Sunday’s ago while celebrating our first anniversary.  We wanted you to know what a blessing St. Michael’s is to us.

Although we live in Chattanooga, we draw strength from the newsletters and sermons.  Please express our gratitude to your staff for all they do to make those things possible.  Their outreach touch many more than I’m sure they are aware of.  I would like to encourage them, especially when they may feel their efforts are for naught.  Their ministry is very important. Although they may not see the end result, please let them know that there are many of us out here that are blessed each time we read the newsletter or are able to click the sermon link and hear The Word.

We pray for you and all of St. Michael’s that God will continue to bless you and cause His grace to be upon you. Thank you for speaking the truth of His Word and not slacking just because it is not a popular message.

Steve purchased a necklace for me at the bookstore in remembrance of our anniversary.  It is a design inspired by the west gate of St. Michael’s.  I wear it daily as a constant prayer reminder and a symbol of my faith when others inquire of the beautiful shape.

I will also keep your Bishop Lawrence in my prayers. Being away from the church for almost ten years, I am shocked at the humanism that has quickly infiltrated The Church.  As Steve and I searched for a home church, we saw the same things your good Bishop is dealing with in so many of the churches here in Chattanooga.  As I read the handout from your Sunday meeting, I wept.  It saddens me deeply that the clergy has been blinded to the Orthodox ways and are leading the sheep down this path.  I have seen that in the one we are presently attending.

Please forgive the length of this email. I know you are a busy man. I appreciate you taking the time to read it.  Steve and I would appreciate your prayers as we seek God’s direction in our lives.

God bless you and all those at St. Michael’s
