Hi there Rev. Zadig,
Just wanted to say thank you for letting me work on the historic St. Michael’s clock. I am Daniel Jeffries of Dee’ s Clock Works in Covington, GA and I have been dealing with Rob for about the last year on the St. Michael’s clock. I count it an honor to be able to work on such a historic timepiece and Rob has just been an absolute pleasure to deal with. I came up this last weekend and made repairs to the qtr chime on Friday night, then got up early on Saturday to finish things. I then met with CJ, another fine individual as well, and we worked through some of the bell linkage issues so now it sounds all 4 qtr notes fully and evenly, and hopefully to your satisfaction. Rob seemed to think you would be pleased with the results.
I am looking forward to the upcoming restoration that will be performed during 2011, and we should be able to iron out these “hick-ups” the old girl is having. I really get upset when it is not functioning correctly, and wished I lived in Charleston so I could spend a lot more time in the tower making needed adjustments.
Just wanted to somewhat introduce myself, thank you and tell you what a wonderful staff you have. When Rob came up to the tower on Sat morning, I had finished and was packing up my tools and we just had a wonderful time talking for quite a little while and just watching the clock run so methodically. I had also asked him if he could get me a copy of the book on the history of St. Michael’s, I love history and especially history that involves a clock, so I look forward to delving into St. Michael’s history.
Me and my wife attended one of your services back in June on our anniversary trip and it was a very nice service indeed. We came to the 11AM service and experience the “Full Episcopal service” and it was very awesome. We are Baptist and it is nice to see how other denominations worship the Lord.
Anyhow, again thank you and I hope on one of my “clock visits” our paths will cross.
Have a blessed day!
Now I just need to work on St. Phillips their clock has been about 4 minutes behind for almost a year….. and its electric! Shows the old fashion way sometimes is the best way. ;o)
Sincerely,
Daniel Jeffries-Dee’s Clock Works, LLC
