You will hear a great deal over the next several weeks about the beautiful experience of our Parish Weekend away. There is simply no substitute for getting away and getting to know others with our feet up over a warm fireplace. Yes, this year the drama team was exceptional and brought out the emotion in all of us, yet at the very same time, a most moving component was what happened between the sessions. All of those organic conversations of people going deeper with each other, to a level just not possible through the business of our Charleston lives. My most cherished memory? There are many, but one that stands out has to do with that late night prayer service we call Compline (meaning last prayers of the day; complete). We were in the prayer time following Compline when half a dozen or so members of the youth group came up and asked for prayer. Their prayer request was for the Lord to expand the Youth Ministry! I was so taken by their joy and passion!
I’m grateful to Justin and Molly Hare and Jessica Lee Wood for their dedication through the power of the Holy Spirit to the children and youth of St. Michael’s.
