Over and over again during Alpha and “I Like Mike” (the newcomer course) we define the church using three words… Up-In-Out. The UP is our worship, (that vertical relationship we have with Jesus Christ). The IN is our relationship with each other (and how the Lord works relationally between his people). The OUT is taking the Gospel to the world. When a church is balancing those three components, we really are the church! When individuals within the body of Christ live that out in their daily life, the Christian walk truly begins to gel.
We modeled this 3-fold approach to Church during the “I Like Mike” course by serving the runners of the Reindeer Run on Saturday, December 3rd. As they ran right be the church that morning this is what they saw and heard. They saw all the doors of St. Michael’s wide open, members of St. Michael’s giving out water, candy canes and Gospel tracts from the church. They heard… the beautiful sounds of the St. Michael’s tower bells as CJ Cantwell and her bell band team rang beautifully, as if our very church building was urging the runners on! Thanks to all who helped us live into our need to be UP, IN & OUT, and in the process planted seeds for the transformation of hearts through Jesus Christ!
