Renovation of the Dependency Underway!

If you walk by the Rectory, there is a construction sign on the gate, no the Rectory is not being renovated, but the back house is!  For years we have all been watching the slow deterioration of the brick building behind the rectory, affectionately known as the Dependency or Kitchen House.  The time is now to begin restoring it.  Thanks to Chappy McKay, here is the latest from Trident Construction.

You may have seen some recent activities at the brick structure at the rear of the rectory.  Over the last couple of months, St. Michaels has been working with Buz Morris, Architect and the City of Charleston to develop a plan to stabilize the dependency including repairing the terracotta roof. Last Thursday, the City’s Board of Architectural Review approved the plan.

Now, with BAR approval, the Church will continue to work with Mr. Morris to further develop plans for the interior renovation. We greatly appreciate the assistance of Craig Bennett who helped guide us through the BAR process. As plans further develop, we look forward to sharing them with the congregation.
