Our time with Doug Born featured what I would call a miracle, more on that in a moment.  We travelled to see Doug on Saturday, February 12 and had a wonderful lunch and afternoon with him.  Doug is helping the Rev. Frog Orr-Ewing start a church near Oxford.  Doug has been given the task of helping a young man in that faith community begin what they call a Market Gardening project. The goal is to give unemployed and homeless folks a chance to get back to work by having them grow produce etc, that they can then sell in local markets.  As Doug and his colleague there were explaining it to us, I noticed that Capers was repeatedly nodding his head and finally Capers with great joy said I have done this kind of market gardening before!  I didn’t know this about Capers, but for two years Capers farmed up near McClellanville, SC.  As a busy attorney Capers couldn’t continue that work, but still has all the equipment on that farm.  Capers then told Doug that he would love to ship his equipment over!  Could it be that Capers was on the trip even if just for that purpose!  So, please keep Frog, Doug and Capers in your prayers as they seek to see this market garden become a reality.

Pray for Doug Born

In mid February and quite suddenly, Doug Born’s brother Peter died unexpectedly.  At the time of this printing plans are underway for the funeral, but in the meantime, please pray for Doug and his family as they grieve.  Even if you don’t know Doug, I urge you to write a brief email of comfort and prayer to him, his email address is mmljohn@yahoo.com
