The tangible miracle of the Global Impact Celebration is clear and real. When Action Team Director Swain Marion showed me the results on a little card, (at the time it was $290,000) tears filled both our eyes! I was absolutely undone! Again, thank you to everyone who gave offerings beyond the tithe!
I have to tell you that I am as amazed by the intangible results of the GIC. What I mean by that are all the relationships that were built over these seven days. I loved seeing missionaries being driven away in cars, taken on walks, invited to breakfasts. I am convinced we were able to raise what we did because of the relationships built, in fact, I’m more convinced than ever that one word that defines mission is the word relationship. When people become more than a name, and we begin to know their heart, look out, great things will happen intangibly in mission. In fact, there are intangible stories and miracles we may never hear about!
Here is an intangible miracle for you. Dr. Hugh Wilson leads a wonderful group of people who pray between the 8:45 and 10:30 services. This group prays for the preachers, teachers, musicians, greeters, ushers, etc. When Ravi Zacharias was here, they prayed over Ravi and anointed him with oil. On the Sunday Barry Black preached, they did the same, anointing him with oil as well. During my breakfast the day after with Barry, he said “I need that man (Hugh Wilson) to be my intercessor in the Senate, please ask him to intercede for me from Charleston!” Barry continued saying, “because I was prayed over I was different and so was my sermon for the 10:30 service.” Barry then asked if we would help him plant the Alpha Course in the Senate! How about those two pieces of intangible miracles working to the glory of God! I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us tangibly and intangibly in this next chapter of our ministry together.
