During Advent, the clergy team set out to see every homebound member of St. Michael’s, many living in Bishop Gadsden, Canterbury House, other retirement communities and of course those living in their homes. While some are more mobile than others it was wonderful to slow life down a bit and simply talk, pray and laugh together! Thank you to all who opened your homes to the clergy and lay Eucharistic Ministers.
I would like to highlight two very special people from a list of very special people. Dr. Richard and Elizabeth Sosnowski. These two are faithful in worship every Sunday. Ever since I first arrived at St. Michael’s Church in 1997 as an associate Priest, “Dick and Libby” have been sources of inspiration. As a couple they are a dynamic duo and have done amazing things in and through this great church. Dick has probably delivered more babies in Charleston than any other Doctor in the history of this City! But as a doctor he has lived his life for the “Master Surgeon…Jesus Christ.” Years ago, he started something called the Annual Medicine and Ministry Conference at Kanuga, bringing Doctors and Clergy together to discuss the healing power of Christ and how these two areas could grow together. From Medicine and Ministry to countless lectures on faith and the human heart, Dick brings the healing of the heart and soul to new levels.
Right by his side all these years is his bride Libby, and together they have produced children and grandchildren who are becoming pillars of faith in their own generations!
As Charlie Baldwin and I sat down with these two on their farm at Bugby Plantation, it was evident that Christ has more ministry for them to do. They are an example that regardless of the phase of life we are in, Christ always has a current ministry purpose for us. Dick and Libby are prayer warriors praying for the ministry of St. Michael’s.
I hope you are as inspired by them as I am! Please keep Dick and Libby in your prayers, as together we seek the continued transformation of every heart in every home.
