  • Jean Corbett – Reflection Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Transformed by the Holy Spirit Johnnie and I, and all the members of the Teams since 2004, are grateful for the invitation from Pastor Peter Chernyavskyy to serve as short-term missionaries in the country of Ukraine. Pastor Peter, Valentina, the host families, the pastors and congregations have opened their arms and hearts to receive the…
  • Johnnie Corbett – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Transformation! However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.  The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of…
  • Todd Brown – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 How did I see hearts transformed in 2012 in the Ukraine? Obviously, the question above leads one to think about the impact our trip had on the hearts and souls of those we ministered to in the Ukraine. However, as I reflect on the question, I recall how many times the Ukrainians ministered to me…
  • Lisa Holland – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Reflecting on Ukraine Ukraine is a beautiful country rich in natural resources; but it has a tragic history and the people continue to live in darkness and oppression.  You can feel the bleakness, the hopelessness and the despair as you drive through the towns.  Everything you see has a gray cast to it.  And the…
  • Eunice Logan – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Answering God's Call I have been asked by several people “why do you go half way around the world when there is need right here.” In Matthew 28, Jesus told us to go and He would be with us.  It is also a part of the Mission statement of St. Michael’s church to feed the…
  • Peggy Reeves – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 A few weeks ago I went with St. Michael’s Healing Mission to the Zhytomir Region of Ukraine for the fifth time. Although each time it is a very different experience the end result is always the same. Each year I think I am going to Ukraine to minister to the people there. But it turns…
  • David Richardson – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 The Power of Your Personal Story Part of the preparation and training for Ukraine Mission is to learn how to share your personal story.   The formula we learn is simple; you communicate how your life was before you accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you state when and how you came to know…
  • Marty Richardson – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Called to Suffer with Them For His Sake The most profound impact of my Ukraine Mission trip this year was the realization how God called me to suffer with the people.  My life at home has not been perfect with the economy and the challenges that I face in my day-to-day life. Honestly, I looked…
  • Weezi Shaw – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Transformed! I can hardly believe that it has been 9 years since I first went to Ukraine as a member of the Ukraine Mission Team. Not only am I nine years older, but the Lord has changed me so much. He is enabling me to see others, and myself, through His eyes-which is not always…
  • Linda Wall – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Worship - the goal in missions, “the gladness of the peoples in the greatness of God”. (“Go Prepared”) It was thrilling to sing “Slav Te Crista, Alleluia” in Russian in village churches led by Weezi, our very own team interpreter and choirmaster. (Praise the Lord, Alleluia) I am grateful to our wonderful leaders who worked…
  • Elizabeth Zadig – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Transformation in Progress As Al and I traveled to Ukraine for St. Michaels’s 9th healing mission, my fervent prayer was that the Lord would use us to transform the hearts of the Ukrainian people through our Lord Jesus Christ. And of course, I was excited to witness the miraculous healings that the Lord had in…
  • Al Zadig – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2012 Where Did I See Transformation of Hearts The Church at her Finest Hour: Yes, I saw transformation in many of the Ukrainians we ministered to, but I also saw profound transformation in the hearts of our Team! What I witnessed in Ukraine was St. Michael’s at her absolute best. There is no doubt about it.…

  • The Rev. Charles Baldwin – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 “Pure and undefiled religion is this...to visit orphans” (James 1:27a) A story; a blessing; a Bible; and a piece of candy. It wasn’t just any story, it was the Gospel story.  The 130 orphans were born after the “Communist Era”, but their parents and grandparents were told “there is no God... the State will take…
  • Jean Corbett – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 UKRAINIAN HOSPITALITY   We were lovingly welcomed by Pastor Peter and Valentina; our other two host families (who were welcoming four new team members into their homes); the pastors and leaders of the Baptist Churches; several congregations; and there were gracious speeches by the Mayors of two villages, who encouraged our return because they have seen…
  • Johnnie Corbett – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 Our Team worked in harmony and precision doing assignments with the joy of the Lord in their hearts! Pastor Peter and his team of pastors and interpreters were a blessing to work with.  On Saturday, the team delivered 400 gift/food bags to the residents and staff of the Zhytomyr Nursing Home. All week, lives were…
  • Arthur Ravenel III – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 The Ukraine has a sad history, but a hopeful future. This country, which borders Poland to the east, has approximately 49 million citizens and was conquered by the Soviet Union in 1919. God has blessed this country with rich, jet black soil that has allowed them to grow abundant crops and known as the breadbasket…
  • Peggy Reeves – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 Each time I go on The St. Michael’s Healing Mission to Ukraine, I am amazed by the poverty and hopeless despair in the village people. I have worked with the poor and indigent here in America for years, but never have I seen such hopelessness and utter despair that is so prevalent in Ukraine. Every…
  • David & Marty Richardson – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 continued to represent to me a snapshot of God’s perfect gentleness, mercy, compassion, grace and love, but I never thought of Ukraine Mission in terms of experiencing God’s peace, that peace of God found in the scripture that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7… until this year. Why had I not felt…
  • Weezi Shaw – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 As I reflect back to the first time I went to Ukraine-8 years ago-I have seen so many changes in the country of Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, and myself. The changes seem to have been slow, but actually that is not much time at all. The Lord is truly present there and we are so…
  • Laurie Snedeker – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 I have always had an excuse for not going on a mission trip - the children are still too young; can’t leave my husband to be mother, father, cook, grocery shopper and in charge of the household; can’t leave elderly family members; can’t take time off from work; or can’t spare the extra time to…
  • Betty Anne Tate – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 Upon arriving in the Ukraine we were divided into groups of four and housed in the private homes of three pastors and their families. Our host family of eight was a fine Christian one, whom we greatly admired. They were an inspiration to each of us. Our day began as we arose about 6:30 a.m.…
  • Simmons Tate – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 We decided to go on St. Michael’s eighth mission to Ukraine in order to give something to Ukraine. We found instead that we received much more than we gave. Our mission was constantly surprised by what we saw and the experiences we encountered. To begin with: our host family. Pastor Vassily, his wife, daughters and…
  • Linda Wall – Reflection on Ukraine Healing Mission 2011 Worship – is the goal in missions, “the gladness of the peoples in the greatness of God”. (A statement from our pre-mission training: “Go Prepared”) It was such a unique experience to worship with the Ukrainians in their churches, listening to praises sung in beautiful Russian voices and accordion music. I woke up one morning…
