Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
Last year, St. Michael’s packed 550 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
This year our goal is 600 boxes!
Pickup shoeboxes beginning Sunday, September 11, 2022. You can find them on the table by the alley door at any time, or in the narthex on Sunday.
Return filled shoeboxes to the table near the alley door by November 21, 2022.
Or, you can pack a box online, and still be included in the total for St. Michael’s. Go to this link, St Michaels Online Shoebox, and start packing!
We need EVERYONE packing shoeboxes. Besides fun personal items such as stuffed animals and toys, boxes need school supplies, soap and washcloth in a Ziploc bag, toothbrushes (no toothpaste because of customs), and clothing items. Many children share these items with family members so if you want to include extras, please do!
Friends, we will not be getting tons of free cardboard OCC shoeboxes this year as we did during the covid difficulties. However, there are many ways for you to easily obtain and fill boxes! Wrap old shoeboxes you have on hand; use plastic shoeboxes from the Dollar Store; Buy official OCC boxes from Hobby Lobby; or order official boxes from the Samaritans Purse website. You can also use the St. Michaels online link to build shoeboxes online! St. Michael's 2022 Operation Christmas Child online link to pack shoebox gifts
We want to encourage you to order some boxes for your family and friends during a special promotion being offered by Samaritan’s Purse during the week of September 12-19! They will give 50 free boxes with your order. This is ideal for Small Groups, Bible Study groups, Youth Groups, best friends and families.....order and share, then bring the free ones to St. Michael's!

The Eternal Impact of a Simple Gift
What goes into an Operation Christmas Child shoe box is fun. But did you know that what comes out can change lives forever?
Flourishing Churches – When churches use shoebox gifts to reach out to their communities, God often blesses them with dramatic growth and a great harvest of souls. Nothing energizes a church like a generation of children who love Jesus!
Opening Doors for the Gospel – Through Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan’s Purse has established church networks in over 100 countries to empower pastors, train teachers, supply Bibles, and prepare the way for those who preach the Gospel.
Redeeming Families – Children often invite their parents to attend the churches where they received their shoeboxes. Many struggling families and broken marriages have been restored as mothers and fathers discover how deeply Jesus loves them.
Making Disciples – Samaritan’s Purse developed The Greatest Journey, a 12 lesson Bible study, especially for children who receive shoebox gifts. We teach them how to live for Jesus and share their faith, multiplying the Gospel among their family and friends.
