Mary's Revolution

Preacher: The Rev. Alfred T.K. Zadig, Jr. Series: Advent Scripture: Luke 1:39–56

Imagine if you will, a 12-15 year old girl from a peasant family, from a backwater town.  With that image in mind, imagine again God choosing this girl to deliver the Savior of the world!  I’m talking here about Mary, the mother of Jesus.  In response to the news of her impending motherhood, Mary would utter what Dietrich Bonhoeffer called:  “The most passionate, wildest and revolutionary hymn ever sung!”  We call it today, the Magnificat, or Mary’s song.  Yet it’s not just for that ancient day, but has key applications for us, especially as we pray for the next generation.  Stay tuned.
