Roots of Sea Oats
Preacher: The Rev. Alfred T.K. Zadig, Jr. Series: Unveiling Jesus in the Gospel of Mark Scripture: Mark 4:2–8, Mark 4:15–23
Today I want to introduce you to the Uniola Paniculata, what we in the lowcountry call Sea Oats. As we continue our preaching series in Mark, the concept of the sea oats is key to understanding Mark 4 and the unforgettable parable of a farmer planting seed in a field. This parable is an agricultural study of 4 different types of dirt. Hard dirt, rocky dirt, thorny dirt and finally…good enriched dirt. Bottom line, the seed planted in the good, deep, rich soil takes off because of one key. Our lowcountry sea oats give the reason why, stay tuned.
