Understanding the Resurrection

April 14, 2024 Preacher: The Rev. Greg Smith Series: Walking with the Risen Christ

Scripture: Luke 24:36–49

It’s a few days after the resurrection – but these things don’t happen very often. As you can imagine, the disciples are still running scared. Luke 24:36-49 invites us into a profound encounter where the risen Lord appears among His disciples, startling and comforting them with a simple, yet profound greeting: "Peace to you!". But what does that mean?  Jesus is offering a peace that overcomes fear and anxiety, inviting us into a state of shalom where we are made whole. It’s a process that begins with a question: Will we live in fear, or will we step out in faith, embracing the peace, presence, and purpose Jesus offers?
