True Friendship - True Covenant
Preacher: The Rev. Alfred T.K. Zadig, Jr. Series: David: A Legacy That Echos Scripture: 1 Samuel 18:1–4, 1 Samuel 20:16–17, John 15:12–15
So far in our series on King David, we talked in week one about the fact that God chose David because he had the heart of a shepherd. David loved, protected and guided his flock. Last week we experienced that great victory of shepherd David defeating Goliath in the greatest underdog story ever told.
Today, we come to David’s powerful friendship with Jonathan. That relationship serves as an example of what the Bible calls a “covenantal relationship.” Simply put, a covenant is an agreement between two parties. Here it is used to demonstrate the commitment between God and His people. True friendship, true covenant. Stay tuned.
